FVL Middle School Track Team

REGISTRATION DEADLINE - March 27, 2020.

This spring FVL is offering middle school age students the chance to train together as an FVL Middle School Track Team. Students will be coached in the various events of track and field, including sprints, long distance, jumps, throws, and hurdles. Participation is open to boys and girls, 5th through 8th grade. Practices will be held Saturday mornings, 9:00 to 11:00, in April and the first Saturday in May. Participants will have the chance to compete together as an FVL team against other local middle schools at a track meet in May. The cost of this program is $30. Students who participate in this program will still compete for their grade schools at the FVL Schools grade school track meet in May. Purpose

The FVL Middle School track team gives student athletes the chance to train and compete with potential future FVL classmates and teammates. Participants receive excellent coaching from a Christian perspective in the various events of track and field. Open to boys and girls 5th through 8th grades.

Coaches

FVL high school track coaches and some federation members will coach the middle school team. FVL high school track athletes will serve as assistant coaches.

Practices

Practices will be held on these dates in April and May at FVL.
- April 4 from 10:00 - 12:00
- April 11 from 10:00 - 12:00
- April 18 from 3:30-5:30
- April 26 from 3:30-5:30
- May 2 from 10:00 - 12:00

Meets

The FVL Middle Schools Team* will compete against other local middle schools in a yet-to-be determined meet in May. Participants will still compete for their own grade school at the FVL Schools track meet on May 6.

*For this meet, only students in grades 6-8 are allowed to compete due to local conference rules.

Equipment and Uniforms

A uniform top (a T-shirt) and all other equipment, including starting blocks, hurdles, jumping pits, etc. are provided. Participants must provide their own shoes and practice clothing.

Cost

The cost to participate is $30 to offset the cost of uniforms and meet fees.
